Surat T.S Adam, District Officer of Ulu Kelantan Kepada W.Langham- bertarikh 5hb Mei 1915, berkenaan persiapan menghadapi kebangkitan Tok Janggut.

Sir,

I have the hohour to repot on the action taken by me in matter of the outbreak in Pasir Putih.

On receipt of the information on Friday Isent for To'Kweng to send three persons (employed by me to supply information) in the direction of Pasir Putih via Seligi pass - I had previously received some details of the outbreak from two of those men.

On Monday evening about 7 pm one of these men returned and reported that he had 17 men, armed with two guns and kris and spears learnt that they propose to attack Kuala Krai, that they had a following estimated about 200 men and that they were trying to obtain further recruits in Kemuning and Panyit.

After few minutes later I recieved your telegram directing me to retire on Kuala Pahi.

I then telegraphed to you that I proposed to anticipate the attack by proceeding to Panyit and on receiving your telegram aloowing me to use my discretion I completed arrangment previously made.

Mr Haugton and Templer had offer me their assistance and the voluntary assistance of any Banjarese and Javanese labourers who might be willing to come. I there for directed them to bring about a dozen men and to meet me at the Public Works Bunglow at Sungai Nal.

Mr Green and Mr Belton of Kuala Pergau offer their services witch I accepted.

I left at 8.50 am with a force of 21 police including three of the D.D.C.L watchmen and four European including Mr Crawfurd and reach The Nal Bungalow at 11 pm. This being suitable place at which to attack any malays, who might be coming upstream.

At about 1.20 am Mr Haughton, Mr Templer and Mr Stephens with 21 Banjarese and other labourers armed with long parangs arrived and at 2 am we began to march down the road with and advance guard of four men. I had previously warned Pasir Gajah and Kuala Pertang in the event any rebels advancing via Telekong.

At 4 am the advance guard reported a few Malays at about 33 1/2 miles (kawasan sekitarBecah Batu Besar - P) - It was so dark to see their numbers or wether they were armed but I am personally of opinion that there were 6 men - some state 10 men.

They fled at once on seeing us and they may have been persons returning from or going to an all night wedding, wich was progress in Telekong. I did not order the men to fire.

At dawn I reached the padi fields outside Kampung Pek and gave the men rest in a position protected on three sides by water and bank. Five men were sent to Kampung and from information obtained I dicided to rush a building, to witch it was states that 13 men had come from Pasir Putih........
